Low alloy 8630: ASTM A29 (VO1.05)

General scope

AISI 8360 is a low alloy steel containing nominally 0.3% C, 0.5% Cr, 0.2% Mo and 0.5% Ni. The alloy is widely used in oil patch applications for connectors, hangers and block valves. Higher strength levels can be achieved by suitable heat treatment but these are not NACE MR0175 approved.

The hardenability limitations of this grade (depth to which it will harden / obtain the specified mechanical properties after heat treatment) must always be taken into account when designing and selecting equipment.
